Gestures everywhere! (22/1/2010)

About this session: This time we explored various gestures (e.g. snapping fingers, stroking the chin, hands on hips, arms crossed etc.) and their effects. The students had to answer questions like: How do you show that you are thinking? or How do you show that you don't want to see this person? We also discussed how to express certain emotions like anger, worry or relief with simple but effective gestures. Afterwards the students worked in pairs and prepared a short scene where one particular emotion was shown and decided on gestures that best illustrated that emotion.

Strike a pose! (15/1/2010)

About this activity: Whenever the music stopped the students had to "strike a pose" and freeze. They had to remember their pose as well as their position, because the next time the music stopped they had to return to their previous position and strike their pose again. Our students came up with some very creative ideas in the course of this activity and often worked together with other students to "build" unique and memorable freeze frames.

Art gallery

About this session: The students worked in groups and created paintings together. They had to present the results in an art gallery where they had to talk about the artist and the painting itself, not only describing but also interpreting it a bit. The visitors on the other hand had the opportunity to ask questions about the "masterpieces"...

Xmas session

About this session: In the first part of the session our students created a Christmus photo album. Each group depicted different moments and situation of a family by means of freeze frames, e.g. the Christmas shopping the opening of the presents. In the second part we did some Christmas-themed improvisation where the students had to improvise short scenes inspired by headlines like "Santa crashes into apartment building" or "Santa's Little Helpers on strike".
